Game Overview
A Strategy Board Game of Heroes, Gods, Armies, and Fate
Defend Troy is a 1–10 player strategy board game where gods, heroes, and armies collide during the final days of the Trojan War. Featuring three complete game modes—Defend Troy, Conquer Troy, and Siege of Troy—the Compoperative™ system lets you play co-op, competitive, or solo using the same unified rule set.
A 1–5 player cooperative mode where you lead Trojan heroes to defend the city as the Fates—automating the entire Greek invasion—drive enemy armies, battlefield events, and divine interventions from the gods.
A 1–5 player cooperative mode where you guide Greek heroes in an assault on the city while the Fates—automating Troy’s defenses—deploy Trojan forces, trigger battlefield events, and unleash unpredictable acts of the gods.
A 2–10 player competitive mode where Greek and Trojan players clash directly, with gods, blessings, and Fate tipping the balance in a massive head-to-head battle for the ancient world.
How Defend Troy is Played
Defend Troy plays in dramatic turns where players control their heroes and armies, respond to shifting enemies, and brace for the relentless pressure of Fate. Every round blends strategic planning with chaotic godly intervention for moments worthy of the Trojan War.
A Hero Stands With You
Each player takes command of a legendary hero of the Trojan War: Achilles, Hector, Odysseus, Aeneas, Cassandra, Paris, and more. Your hero’sunique abilities, strengths, and style of play shape your role in the coming battle.
Fate is Revealed
At the start of each player’s turn, the battlefield shifts. A new zone is marked for attack, signaling where enemy forces will surge next—and giving you just enough warning to respond, reinforce, or take a calculated risk.
Draw Action Cards
Players draw Action Cards that grant maneuvers, heroic abilities, tactical choices, and—if fortune smiles—precious blessings from the gods. These cards define your tactical options and the flexibility of your hero this round.
Prepare Your Plan
Before blades cross, you reinforce friendly troops, reposition your line, fortify weak points, or ready a bold assault. Will you strike first, hold the walls, or bide your time for a perfect counterattack?
Pray to Call Upon the Gods
Your prayers may summon divine power onto the battlefield. Ares, Athena, Hera, Poseidon, Artemis, Aphrodite, and more can intervene with dramatic, game-shifting abilities, turning disaster into triumph, or tipping the scales of fate.
Execute Your Strategy
With your action cards, troops, and hero abilities aligned, you carry out your plan: move across the field, strike enemy armies, bolster allies, unleash heroic feats, and react to the ever-changing flow of war.
The Enemy Surges
After your turn ends, the opposing side advances. The Fates—or enemy players—deploy reinforcements, drive attacks, trigger battlefield events, and escalate pressure as the siege intensifies
The Next Hero Responds
A new zone is chosen for conflict, the field shifts once more, and the next player acts. Round after round, the tension builds until one side finally breaks the threads of fate and claims victory.
The Loom of War Turns, Whether You Are Ready or Not
Behind every clash on the battlefield lies a deeper force—cold, impartial, and unstoppable.
In Defend Troy and Conquer Troy, the enemy is governed not by a player, but by the Fates: a silent, relentless algorithm that dictates how armies advance, reinforce, and strike.
The Fates do not negotiate.
They do not hesitate.
They simply decide.
At the end of every player’s turn, you flip a card from the Turn Deck. This determines which battlefield zone the Fates activate next—and the assault begins.
The Three Pillars of the Fates
The Fates reveal which battlefield zone erupts next through a dedicated Turn Deck. Each draw determines where pressure builds, where enemies surge, and which flank players must respond to before the next sudden shift.
The Fates follow a simple, transparent set of rules that govern how enemy units move, reinforce, and strike. Their logic is predictable enough to plan around, but ruthless enough to overwhelm unprepared players.
Every Fated activation grows the pressure: new enemies arrive, flanks collapse, and momentum shifts. Players must read the pattern, anticipate the next strike, and adapt before destiny closes in.
Why the Fates Make the Game Sing
The Fates provide:
-Solo and Co-Op Play That Feels Alive-
-Enemy Behavior That Is Predictable Yet Unforgiving-
-A Surging, Rhythmic Pressure That Builds Toward Catastrophe-
-Zero Bookkeeping—the game runs itself-
They are the perfect antagonist: calculating, inevitable, and driven only by the unfolding of destiny.
